With an education in early childhood development as well as fine art, Debra Freeman-Highberger founded the Acorn Gallery School of Art based on the understanding that a child’s involvement in the arts improves motivation, concentration, confidence, and teamwork. Debra Freeman-Highberger studied painting independently and worked as a portrait artist in Ulm, Germany. During her time in Europe, she traveled through France, Germany, and Switzerland painting landscapes. Upon her return to the United States, Freeman-Highberger apprenticed with Joseph Luongo and studied the figure and foundations of painting with Jack Highberger. She is affiliated with and has exhibited at the Arts Forum Gallery (New York, NY), The Agora Gallery (New York, NY), and Boston Art Inc. (Boston, MA). Freeman-Highberger has exhibited internationally at the Museo de las Americas (Madrid, Spain), the Palacio Lizarde (Barcelona, Spain) and the Museo de Bella Artes (Seville, Spain). Her work is also held in private collections. As founder of Acorn Gallery School of Art, Debra Freeman-Highberger teaches the after school classes for children ages 5-11, Pre-Portfolio classes, and the Acorn Summer Programs.
